SUMMARY:Gen-CITy 2024
DESCRIPTION:Join Ajay Lotan Thakur\, Aether TST Lead\, for his exciting keynote talk\, “Opportunities in Cloud-Native 5G: Unlocking Energy Savings for a Sustainable Future” at the Gen-CITy 2024 virtual conference. His talk is schedule to take place December 12th at 0900 MYT. \nAbstract: As 5G networks expand globally\, the demand for high-speed\, low-latency communication is increasing\, but so is the energy consumption of telecom infrastructure. The challenge lies in achieving a balance between the performance needs of 5G technology and the growing imperative for sustainability. This talk explores innovative strategies to reduce the energy footprint of 5G networks and uses Aether’s (private 5G) Smart5G initiative as a case study. \nAbout Gen-CITy 2024: The University of Southampton Malaysia is organizing the “International Conference on Green Energy\, Computing and Intelligent Technology (GEn-CITy 2024)” in collaboration with the IET\, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) China\, UCSI University Malaysia and University of Santo Tomas\, Philippines. \nThe conference theme is Clean Energy and Intelligent Technologies for a Sustainable Future and brings together engineers\, researchers\, and specialists from academia\, research centers\, and industry worldwide to discuss and present the latest developments and applications related to the challenges of securing clean and sustainable energy sources for the 21st century to protect the environment. \nLearn more and register. \n  \n

SUMMARY:The Green Network
DESCRIPTION:Check out an exciting virtual panel discussion\, “The Benefits of Building a Green RAN”\, hosted by Telecom TV in which Sarat Puthenpura\, Chief Architect Aether SMaRT-5G participated. This session took place February 5th at 16:00 London | 11:00 New York. \nThe RAN accounts for\, on average\, 75% of the total network energy usage for a mobile network operator. The radio unit is the most significant power contributor in a base station\, accounting for as much as 80% of RAN energy usage. The physics of radio communications means these are far from the most efficient systems. However\, there are many technology and operational innovations that can help to reduce this huge power budget. The panel examined various approaches to building a ‘green RAN’ and the benefits that arise from power savings. \n\n\nCheck out the panel video on-demand
